Shark Killing Among some of the most wasteful reasons to hunt in the world I'd have to say that besides the killing of elephants for their tusks, this is on top of the list for one of the worst reasons a blue shark is killed. And sadly enough the United States is one of the top countries to blame. In Hawaii and Mexico shark finning is very common. The fishermen fish the sharks take the fins, and throw it back into the water. The fins are mainly used for fin soup as a status symbol for the Japanese. They eat it for fin soup. Since the fins contain a high dose of ammonia smell and taste they must be processed quickly and tossed back into the ocean, and a lot of times the fish is thrown back into the water alive. Conservation's main cause for concern is the fact that the sharks have a very low reproduction rate. They don't typically reproduce until the age of twenty-five, and even then they only produce a few babies. At The rate these fishermen hunt them the sharks will possibly become endangered in the next few years. This is one of the most cruelest things I've ever heard, and not just the killing of them for the fins, but that fact that they are thrown back into the water without fins. How is the shark supposed to survive and even swim? That is so cruel. Maybe someone should cut off fishermen's legs and arms, and watch them try to survive. It probably would probably hard for the fisherman to survive, he'd be a physical vegetable. I hope the United States does something urgently to control this growing problem before it gets out of hand. The people can do something about it by obviously not buying shark products but also by writing letters and sending petitions to congress, we could also spread the word in other ways in Japan and Hong Kong. But I think if the US stopped the finning, other countries would probably follow and sales would go down, giving the sharks a chance to live and breed in peace. Animal Science

The treaty of versailles essays The Treaty of Versailles was an agreement signed by four people. They were Georges Clemeneau of France, David Lloyd George of Britain, Vittorio Orlando of Italy and Woodrow Wilson on the U.S. The Treaty was constructed by Woodrow Wilson of the U.S. The Treaty of Versailles was a peace treaty that bought an end to World War I. It listed fourteen points that would cause peace between all the countries. Germany were not allowed to have their say about the treaty or share their opinions about it as they were blamed for the whole war even though it was not entirely their fault alone. They were blamed for the whole war as they surrendered. Many of the fourteen points of the treaty were against Germany and took away many of their rights as a country. This was very unfair towards Germany. The Treaty stated that Germany had to pay 6,600 million sterling to repair all the damage that the war had caused. This was unfair as Germany did not cause the war all by itself and should not have had to pay for it all the damage caused by the war. It also stated that many countries would become an independent country and would not be ruled by a bigger country which was fair. A fair point that was made on the treaty said that all wartime guns and weapons would be melted down. This was good as it meant there was an unlikely chance that another war would break out and anymore people getting injured. Germany was blamed for the whole war and causing it. This was wrong as it was not Germanys fault alone and many other countries had also helped start it and were to blame too, not just Germany. Many of the terms of the treaty were very harsh to Germany and gave them harsh punishments such as to limit the size of their army and to give up its empire. Word Choice Nauseous, Nauseated, or Nauseating - Proofed Word Choice: Nauseous, Nauseated, or Nauseating? Do grammatical errors make you feel sick? If so, are you feeling ââ¬Å"nauseousâ⬠or ââ¬Å"nauseatedâ⬠? These words cause a lot of strife among grammarians, so we thought we would clear up some of the controversies by looking at three terms in detail: ââ¬Å"nauseous,â⬠ââ¬Å"nauseatedâ⬠and ââ¬Å"nauseating.â⬠Time to take your grammatical medicine! Nauseous (Causing Nausea or Feeling Sick) ââ¬Å"Nauseousâ⬠is an adjective with two distinct meanings in modern English: Causing nausea or disgust nausea or disgust Feeling sick or disgusted The traditional meaning of ââ¬Å"nauseousâ⬠is the first definition above. For example, we might say: The rotting meat gave off a nauseous smell. Here, ââ¬Å"nauseousâ⬠implies that the smell of the meat is disgusting. Some (pedantic) people will insist that this first definition is the only ââ¬Å"correctâ⬠use of this term. However, in practice, the second definition is widely used as well. As such, we could also say: The smell of the rotting meat made me nauseous. In this case, ââ¬Å"nauseousâ⬠describes the feeling of nausea. This is, in fact, the most common meaning of this term in modern English and almost always how it is used in everyday language. Nauseated (Feeling Sick or Disgusted) The traditional word for feeling sick or disgusted is ââ¬Å"nauseated.â⬠This makes it like the second sense of ââ¬Å"nauseousâ⬠above, so we would use it as follows: His disgusting habits left me nauseated. This term is actually the simple past tense of the verb ââ¬Å"nauseate,â⬠which means ââ¬Å"to cause nausea.â⬠Nauseating (Causing Nausea) Another variation of this term is the adjective ââ¬Å"nauseating,â⬠which means ââ¬Å"causing nausea or disgust.â⬠It is therefore used in the same way as the first definition of ââ¬Å"nauseousâ⬠above. For instance: I find violent movies nauseating. The adverbial form of this word is ââ¬Å"nauseatingly,â⬠which is used when describing an action. Nauseous, Nauseated or Nauseating? So, with all of these overlapping meanings, how do you avoid errors when using these terms? Most of the time, using either ââ¬Å"nauseousâ⬠or ââ¬Å"nauseatedâ⬠to mean ââ¬Å"feeling sick or disgustedâ⬠is fine. You can then use ââ¬Å"nauseatingâ⬠to describe something that causes nausea or disgust, since this term only has one meaning. However, some still prefer to use the old-fashioned meaning of ââ¬Å"nauseous,â⬠especially in formal medical writing. Back Ground Study: Hotels and their branding strategies are famous all over the world. If we look around us we can see that the success of a hotel is in its brand emphasis. To stay in business and to beat the competition around them, all hotel groups engage in brand implementation. The logo itself would stand out on its own, from the minute a customer enters a hotel, they will be centred on the brand image starting from napkins, towels, spoons, etc. A trend in todays hospitality industry is the interest to cater to different market segments under one brand name. To achieve this many big reputed hotels, acquire or enter into some alliance with smaller hotels and provide them with the main hotel logo, brand name and similar facilities/services. Thus making it a part of the main hotel brand. Since more and more hotels are moving ahead with this same kind of strategy there is an enormous competition in this sector at present. To focus in depth on this matter I have decided in taking Hilton Hotels Corporation as a case study. This hotel group is one of the leading names in the global hospitality sector, with more than 2,800 hotels and 490,000 rooms in more than 80 countries, including 150,000 team members worldwide. The company owns, manages or franchises a hotel portfolio of some of the best known and highly regarded brands, including Hilton, Conrad, Doubletree, Embassy Suites Hotels, Hampton Inn, Hampton Inn Suites, Hilton Garden Inn, Hilton Grand Vacations, Homewood Suites by Hilton, and The Waldorf=Astoria Collection. There are may other international hotel chains like, Marriot, Holiday Inn, Intercontinental and Radisson which are as competitive as Hilton and are following the path of global branding, but they are only very new entrants in this field. To portray a global image and enhance a world over brand large investments are required. Government policies, economical changes, political issues like September 11th have affected the Hotel industry world wide during recent times. Making this kind of a huge investment is very risking for hotels until their long term objectives show profits. During the years Hilton Hotel as a corporate has been able to create a brand for itself in this competitive lodging industry, proving their capabilities by continuously portraying increase in its revenue every year, by diversifying its products and acquiring other valuable hotels to add to it corporate chain. Hilton as a corporate has been able to cater to the needs of different types of guests. Based on needs of the customers they are able to providing the required facilities and services. Thus being able to keep up its own brand movement and also create publicity in all segments of the market needs. Acquiring hotels which are based overseas has also enabled the company to expand its operations and serve its clientele. To validate my assumptions and to clear my doubts, I have tried engaging in a journal article Brand Equity, Brand Preference and Purchase Intent (Cathy J. Cobb- Walgren, 1995). Here I intend to demonstrate how branding can help a hotel be well renowned and at the same time be able to cater to all segments. Research Question: How does a traditional luxury hotel group react strategically to the incoming global pressure from niche brands? (Case Study Hilton International) Research Objective: Main objective of this research will be to identify the current market positioning of the hotel groups, taking Hilton as a case study, to find out how the each hotel chains competes each other in a global market. I will compare brand segmentation and competitive advantage and brand value different hotel chains. Research Methodology I will compare the performance of Hilton Hotel in each of the areas of its operations (Customer satisfaction, Competitiveness, Productivity, Profitability) against other major players in the market .To find out the core competencies of the company it is also required to do a SWOT analysis. This analysis would help in focusing on the companys strength, weakness, opportunities and threat, which would help in achieving an internal picture of Hilton as a whole. It would be beneficial using Porters five competitive forces (Micheal Porter 1980) to find out Hiltons external opportunities and threats. I will be interviewing General Managers to understand the current market trends and companys main objectives and plans for the future. It is essential to use Hilton as a case study to evaluate how hotels interested in the branding concept operate world over. Due to the above mentioned (Background) specialities in Hilton Hotels Corporation it will be much helpful to take it as a case study to understand; what are the integrities in undergoing brand diversification with in the industry.
